Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra Removal

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra Removal

Dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN) is a harmless skin condition that tends to affect people with darker skin tone with Fitzpatrick skin phototype 4, 5 or 6. Females are more frequently affected than males.

It consists of small, dark bumps that usually appear on face and neck. Some people only develop a few of the lesions while others have many. These skin blemishes that are small black or dark brown bumps are usually flat, smooth, and round.

Their sizes are usually from 1 to 5 millimeters. Sometimes the lesions have small flaps attached that look like skin tags. They are mostly common on face and neck but sometimes appear on chest and back too.

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra lesions are harmless. However, if the bumps are found to be bothersome, at LiLyDermis we offer different procedures such as thermo-coagulation, electro-cautery, N2O-COOL, and CO2-COOL to remove the lesions. Some clients choose to have the skin blemishes removed for cosmetic reasons.
